Best. Field trip. Ever.

President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama, along with a group of local high schoolers, had the chance to watch a performance from the cast of the Broadway show Hamilton at the White House on Monday.

For those who don’t know the show, being described as a “hip-hop musical,” it’s a mega-hit about Alexander Hamilton (that is not an oxymoron) who was, among many things, the U.S.’ first secretary of the treasury, and who died after being shot in a duel with Aaron Burr. Book, music and lyrics are by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Caught up? Here’s what the day was like, as told by Twitter.

The cast first went sightseeing in the D.C. area

After that, it was on to the White House.

Along with juice for the students.

The show began…minus costumes.

And we think Michelle and her husband were really into it!

The cast even held a Q&A.

Better yet, Obama helped the show’s creator freestyle by holding up cards.
